A retrofit and construction management project in San Francisco

After 40 years of use, the main pool & spa were stripped to their structural shells.  The old concrete deck was completely removed.  A new storm drain system was installed.  New plumbing around and through the pool shell was installed.  A new sanitary sewer was added for the shower area.  The spa was enlarged.  The old soil fill was replaced with a Class II aggregate base.  New interlocking pavers were set in sand for the new deck.  A new retaining wall cut into a hill to accommodate the enlarged deck. New pumps, filters, chlorinators, heaters, and piping for the pool were installed in an existing room off the pool cabana.  The same equipment for the spa was replaced and relocated in a nearby underground vault to control sound.  New landscaping and lighting was installed.  The pool and spa shell were re-tiled at their waterlines and re-coated with Pebble Sheen.  The cabana was completely rebuilt with a large trellis to accommodate parties of up to several hundred people.  The entire facility was upgraded to comply with ADA, egress, and health regulations.
